The Good Guys

James Brockhurst, The Good Guys
“When a company, large or small, decides to assess and improve its environmental performance, having employees on board to support and extend the project can make the difference between success and failure” ( Tilde Herrera ).
James Brockhurst, The Good Guys have embarked on an initiative to embed the principles of sustainability into their business framework, policies and procedures upon which they rely on for continued success in the electrical goods retail sector. To this end, The Good Guys Team have committed to a store environment that is safe and fun, where everyone is treated with respect and dignity, and a focus is put upon sustainable business development.
The Good Guys commitment to a sustainable business is captured in the following key business visions and principles:
Our Vision:
To be the number 1 electrical retailer in profitable sales in the local area.
Our Staff Commitment:
Safe and fun environment treating everybody with respect and dignity.
Our Supplier Commitment:
Fair and honest relationship, support for mutual support, and maximised sales.
What does Sustainability mean to The Good Guys?
Sustainability is not a single action, but a holistic, system of awareness, action, and reflection that lead to increasingly better business economic, environmental, and social performance. The system of interconnected actions that are applied at The Good Guys provide the business with a strong base upon which to launch future business directions grounded in industry research and strategies underpinned by sustainability principles.
Australia's first Sustainable Electrical Retailers Business Guide
The primary goal of the project is to produce Australia's first Sustainability Electrical Retailers Business (SERB) Training Guide. The SERB Guide's purpose is to make sustainable economic, ecological, and social success a cornerstone of what The Good Guys do. To this end the SERB Guide is designed as an integrated induction guide for staff and staff induction facilitators.
The SERB Guide accompanies any Company wide guidelines (e.g. The Good Book) and is provided to all commencing staff. The SERB Guide is a dynamic document, therefore, it is reviewed periodically to ensure both consistency across departments/stores and continuous addition and improvement.
