FWR News
In August 2009, the Australian Capital Territory Land Development Agency (ACT LDA) sent out a national tender seeking the assistance of a multi-disciplinary team to develop, in consultation with the LDA, a Sustainability Strategy for the new district of Molonglo, and the greenfield developments of Wright and Coombs contained within this district (to be developed 2009/10). FWR Group tendered for the project and are proud to announce were successful in winning the tender process.
As lead consultants, FWR Group brings a unique Integrative Development Project Design Process to the Molonglo Project and has commenced work with the LDA in late-September, already facilitating project commencement and visioning workshops with the LDA and key project stakeholders representing ACT government, planning, health, and development authorities. FWR Group counts as part of the its project team, PLACE Design Group, EC3 Global, and Climate Risk as consulting partners in the project. Core to the project's success is the use of our project management and delivery model of which ACE Project is a key delivery tool (See ‘Creating a LEAN Enterprise' article). Utilising a LEAN Office model has also allowed us to provide a competitive project fee and put more of our resources into ensuring project success, something small business often struggles with as a result of not being able to access the larger cash resources of a bigger company.
The project brief consists of two central objectives. The first objective is to investigate and provide recommendations and options for implementation of sustainable initiatives related to energy and water for the development of the Molonglo District, and to benchmark sustainable development options against current ‘business as usual' development approaches in similar scaled existing urban developments. The second objective is to assist the LDA to gain project certification under the UDIA's EnviroDevelopment Program through demonstrating the performance of the proposed Molonglo community against the required EnviroDevelopment Criteria.
FWR Group are uniquely placed to delivery this project having been integral in achieving EnviroDevelopment Certification for developments in the past and the Company's unique focus upon sustainability policy, strategic planning, indicators, monitoring and reporting, and sustainable urban development as core business. FWR Group will keep you updated on the projects progress. Please, contact us for more information.
